CLIFTON, N.J. – The appointment of Dr. Shailja Dixit as chief medical officer and global head of digital innovation at Sutherland Healthcare marks a new focus for the company.
“Dr. Dixit will act as a catalyst to broaden Sutherland Healthcare’s reach in providing innovative digital offerings to our customers,” said Dr. Graham Hughes, CEO of Sutherland Healthcare, which provides solutions for health care organizations to streamline their operations.
Sutherland Healthcare is an autonomous arm of Sutherland Global Services, which rethinks and rebuilds business processes for the digital age by using data analytics and insights. SGS works in industries like banking and financial services, media, retail and, more recently, health care.
Dixit comes to Sutherland Healthcare from previous roles at GE Healthcare, Sanofi, Allergan and Accenture. She said she understands how technology can be used to produce better outcomes and lower costs for health care, and that it begins with patient engagement.
“The first time a patient comes in contact with a health care system needs to be right,” she said. “Everyone has a different way of interacting, so it’s critical to figure out which customer likes to interact in what way.”
Dixit said her work at Sutherland Healthcare will include exploring initiatives around telemedicine, technology, the Internet of Things, analytics, artificial intelligence and payment management.
“We want to leverage technology in multiple areas and break the silos that exist in health care technology to provide the best consumer experience,” said Dixit.
Sutherland Healthcare believes in “care anywhere,” and that consumers are driving health care from the clinic to the home, Dixit said.
“They are monitoring their own health and they want to deliver this data to their provider for more insight-driven decisions,” she said. “This is where the world of health care is going.”
